How to set up WhatsApp (MSG91)

Covers: MSG91 signup, Meta WhatsApp Business, AuthKey, Configure WhatsApp API, webhook

Okfit sends WhatsApp using the official WhatsApp Business API through MSG91 (Meta-approved). You create your own MSG91 account, finish WhatsApp Business setup with Meta, then connect AuthKey + phone number in Okfit. After that you can broadcast from Whatsapp (META), sync templates, and turn on Automatic WhatsApp.

This guide is for Whatsapp (META). Whatsapp Web is a separate channel and does not use MSG91.

#

Overview

  • Messages use official WhatsApp Business APIs

  • MSG91 handles API integration and WhatsApp Business / Meta approvals support

  • Okfit stores your phone number and AuthKey to send messages and show delivery reports

#

Important before you start

  • Create a new MSG91 account using Okfit’s signup link (do not reuse an old personal MSG91 account unless support tells you to)

  • Use your official company domain email (example: [email protected]) — avoid Gmail / Yahoo for MSG91 signup when possible

  • Have valid company and contact details ready

  • You will need WhatsApp conversation credits from Meta (via MSG91) — separate from your Okfit subscription

  • MSG91 also charges its own platform fee (see msg91.com pricing; commonly about ₹500 + GST per month — confirm on MSG91)

#

Part A — Create your MSG91 account

  • Signup link: https://msg91.com/signup?utm_source=okfit

  • Or from Okfit

1. Log in as Super Admin

2. Top-right email → Account Settings → SMS & Whatsapp → Whatsapp Messages

3. Click Connect to MSG91

4. In the modal, click Continue to MSG91 (opens MSG91 signup with Okfit as source)

#

On MSG91

1. Choose Signup with Email

2. Fill company details and verify your email as prompted

3. Follow on-screen steps and select WhatsApp Service to get started

4. MSG91 can help with free WhatsApp Business setup support — use their in-product help or email [email protected]

#

Part B — WhatsApp Business setup with Meta (inside MSG91)

#

After the MSG91 account exists:

1. Follow the WhatsApp / Meta setup wizard or video guide inside MSG91

2. Complete Meta Business verification and WhatsApp Business phone number onboarding as MSG91 instructs

3. Wait until your WhatsApp number is live / approved for API use

4. If stuck on Meta approval, email [email protected] (MSG91 assists with Business setup)

#

Part C — Copy AuthKey and phone number from MSG91

1. Log in to MSG91

2. Go to Settings → AuthKey (wording may vary slightly)

3. Copy the AuthKey

4. Note your WhatsApp Business phone number in international format without + or spaces (example: 919876543210)

#

Part D — Connect MSG91 to Okfit (self-serve)

1. Log in to Okfit as Super Admin

2. Top-right email → Account Settings → SMS & Whatsapp

3. Under Whatsapp Messages, click Configure WhatsApp API

4. Phone Number — enter with country code, example 919876543210

5. API Key (Auth Key) — paste the MSG91 AuthKey

6. Click Save

You should see Automatic WhatsApp toggles (or Configure remains available to update credentials). If Save fails, re-check the AuthKey and that the number matches the WhatsApp number approved in MSG91 / Meta.

Optional: Connect to MSG91 button is only for opening signup / partner onboarding. After your number is live, Configure WhatsApp API is the step that enables Okfit.

#

Part E — WhatsApp delivery webhook (so reports show in Okfit)

#

Do this in MSG91 so delivery status appears under Activity Report → Whatsapp Report.

1. In Okfit: Account Settings → Authkey and Webhooks

2. Copy Authorization Key

3. Also note the Whatsapp Webhook URL (shown on that tab): https://portal.okfit.in/api/v1/wa_delivery_report/msg91

4. In MSG91: WhatsApp → Webhook (New) → Create Webhook

5. Webhook Name: Okfit Webhook (any clear name)

6. Select Template: Custom Webhook

7. Select Service: Whatsapp

8. Select Event: On Outbound Report Received

9. Method: POST

10. URL: https://portal.okfit.in/api/v1/wa_delivery_report/msg91

11. Content Type: JSON

12. Under Headers add — Key: Authorization — Value: Bearer YOUR_OKFIT_AUTHORIZATION_KEY (space after Bearer, then the key from step 2)

13. Save the webhook in MSG91

#

Part F — After successful integration

  • WhatsApp templates from MSG91 can sync into Okfit (Broadcast → Whatsapp (META) → create / sync flow)

  • Send campaigns from Dashboard → Broadcast Message → Whatsapp (META), or report Send Message

  • Turn on Automatic WhatsApp for class, enquiry, member, greeting, and reminder events (see that guide)

  • Buy / top up WhatsApp credits in MSG91 / Meta as needed — low balance causes failed sends (visible in Whatsapp Report)

#

Charges reminder

  • Okfit subscription does not include Meta WhatsApp conversation charges

  • Pay MSG91 platform fees to MSG91

  • Pay message / conversation credits as Meta prices them through MSG91

#

Troubleshooting

Issue

Fix

Cannot signup on MSG91

use company email and Okfit signup link; contact [email protected]

AuthKey Save fails in Okfit

confirm Super Admin, correct AuthKey, phone with country code, WhatsApp number already approved

Templates missing in Okfit

create/approve in MSG91 / Meta first, then sync from Broadcast Whatsapp (META)

No delivery in Activity Report

finish Part E webhook with Authorization Bearer header

Still stuck connecting Okfit

email [email protected] with gym name, MSG91 phone number, and whether AuthKey Save succeeded
